Pekoe is a registered polish arab, registered name Sudden Justice.    He is a Khemosabi grandson on both sides.   His sire is Khiowa.    This was my dream horse when I bought him.     He is 8 years old, I bought him when he was 5.    He was very green broke at the time, but has come a long, long way.

Pekoe is a very beautiful, talented, smart, athletic horse who deserves to be loved and rode, not just stand around in a pasture looking pretty.     He is 13.3 hands.     Pekoe is a very opinionated horse, typical arab LBI, everything must be his idea or he isn't interested.    If you're an arab lover, you know this par for the course!   Pushing him will not get the job done.    Pekoe can have a dominating personality and will test so  you need to lay down the rules or he'll take advantage.    Once he knows you're 51% of the partnership he'll do anything you ask.   Because of this I would not recommend him for timid people.    For a confident handler he is a dream.    He is very respectful on the ground, plays all the ground work games wonderfully, and for a while I was going to simply use him as my "ground work" horse.  But sadly I need another riding partner, so it only makes sense to give Pekoe another home.

    rn

Pekoe has been primarily trail ridden in the last 3 years that I've owned him.    We also had several dressage lessons, and he is very talented in that sport as well.    I do believe this horse could do anything you asked of him.     Pekoe is very level headed, not a crackhead arab.   He really prefers to just walk down trails.   He can pick up the energy on a dime.   He is confident, can be ridden in groups or by himself.     He does get more antsy in larger riding groups, and does not ride well with gaited horses for some reason, you will be trotting all day to keep up with them.   He may still have some maturing to do, he seems mentally very young still and time may stop the antsy behavior.    In small groups he is great.    He is not spooky, nervous, or jumpy.   Doesn't mind cars, trucks, dogs, anything.     Trailers fine, loads ok (we've come a long way on that!), is fine for farrier, UTD on shots (WNV, EEE, WEE Tetanus, Rabies) and coggins.    Pekoe is also barefoot, I am a professional barefoot trimmer and have maintained his hooves for the past 3 years.   He is very sound, I have never even needed to boot him on rocky trails.

    rn

Pekoe is a dominant herd horse, but I do not think he will be aggressive to other herd members once he establishes his position.    We currently have 3 other horses, and there have been 2 or 3 other horses who have come and gone over the past 3 years that he has lived with, and he simply asserts himself and other horses immediately back off.    There have never been any major arguments.

    rn

Saddle fit problems have plagued me for 3 years with his horse, and after 6 saddles I have finally found the right fit.    Pekoe MUST have a WIDE tree english saddle, or a wide western tree with a short skirt.    Anything less will pinch his shoulders and withers, and he is very sensitive and reactive to the discomfort.   If you do not have a wide saddle and/ or are not willing to GET a wide saddle for him, you need not apply because this horses will not be happy in a narrower saddle and will buck.

    rn

Pekoe needs at least an intermediate confident rider, he is not for beginners.     I would not recommend him for larger adults, he is a small horse, and really should not be asked to carry more than about 180 lbs (tack included).    He would be absolutely wonderful for a young girl who wants to ride like the wind!     Or for anyone who enjoys a spunky horse, for that matter.     He is flashy, will be a show stopper, would be great for 4H or amateur shows.     He is a lot of fun to have around, a great all-around horse.

    rn

The ONLY reason this has become necessary to sell Pekoe is because pekoe has a very short stride and it hurts my back terribly to ride him.   After pulling a muscle very badly this past spring, the bouncing I receive from the trot and canter cause the pain to return.    I can comfortably ride my gaited horses all day with no problems, or a larger walk/trot horse, but because of Pekoe's size and conformation I simply cannot ride him anymore.   My barn unfortunately only has 4 stalls, so in order to get another riding horse I will have to make room.   I would love to just keep him as a pasture ornament, but just can't afford to do so.

    rn

I will be very picky about his new home, and I will ask for "right of first refusal" if he does not work out.   He is a wonderful horse and I don't want to see him passed around.

    rn

I am asking $1000 OBO.    The perfect home is way more important to me than the money.
